How Many Calories in Crawfish?

It’s crawfish season! I’ve already been to a few boils myself this year and I was curious how any calories I was really eating. Or, rather, how much everyone else was eating…
Crawfish are freshwater crustaceans and abundant in the swamps and marshes of south Louisiana. Sometimes they are also called crayfish. 6 to 7 lbs of raw crawfish yields about 1 lb. of tail meat. So how bad is it? For a whole pound of meat it’s about 370 calories! Keep in mind 1lb. is not a serving size, that’s more like 3oz. Per ounce, its around 23-24 calories. Not so bad right? Crawfish is also a good source of vitamin B12, niacin, iron, copper and selenium. Not to mention they’re fun to eat and even more fun to share!
Get your crawfish supplies fast because peak season is March-May! Or better yet, find your favorite local restaurant. And don’t forget to eat something green too!

Super jazzed about getting that knho-oww.
My husband eats a lot of crawfish, but it is seasoned with an awful lot of salt!! What are your thoughts about that? It would not be unusual for him to eat 5 lbs at a time. And of course that brings on his thirst, BEER!!
Please send me nutritional value of one pound of crawfish meat
Would like the nutritional values on a pound of crawfish meat
It’s great that you’ve mentioned how crawfish only contains around 23 to 24 calories per ounce and at the same time is a good source of niacin, iron, and vitamin B12. My wife and I are quite conscious of our diets and we want to know how much we are taking in. Knowing about these and the benefits of crawfish, we’ll most likely head to a crawfish restaurant closest to us.
